Well... my village wasn't very large [it got even smaller after the raids] so everyone knew each other really well - like family. Whenever anyone needed help, the whole community would do their best to pitch in and no matter where you go in the South Pole, there's that sense of - belonging, I guess. It was the same when we went to the North Pole to visit the Northern Watertribe - even though our understandings of customs and cultures were different, we were still family.

The men are trained as hunters and warriors and the women are trained to make the best use of everything that the men bring back, make it so we have a place to live. The elders train the children.

[She... doesn't talk about waterbending, not because she's hiding it, but because it wasn't a part of their village's life.]

What's it like growing up in a city?

The 'buro will eat you alive if you aren't careful, so you learn where to go, who to listen to, and who to avoid pretty fast. There's always something to do and someone to talk to though.
