[Neji takes a half-step back, solidifying his footing, his gaze moving between Linda and Masaomi. Then, one simple, brisk word.]

[He makes the first move, circling to put Masaomi between himself and Linda, then moving forward to strike with stiffened fingertips at Masaomi's shoulder.]

[Why bother with bullet time when you can have ninja time?

Since he doesn't have the Byakugan up yet, it's the clicking sound that alerts Neji; he drops and rolls out of the way, which gets him away from the attack but puts distance between himself and Masaomi - not what he wants.

From that distance, he eyes Linda. Strange summons aren't exactly unknown, but they're often challenging in a friendly spar. He knows how much to pull his hits to avoid damaging a human; he doesn't know how durable she is, how much she can withstand without actual injury.

It's just another dimension to the spar.]

[Well that was... loud. And unpleasant. Neji does flinch at the sound, just a little; a twitch of muscle, but his pale eyes are still fixed on the pair, tracking them, even if his ears are ringing now. Enough of an opening you're willing to try it, Masaomi?]

[Of course, he's fighting someone who specializes in targeting chakra and pressure points.]

[Quick words, approving, even as Neji twists away from the strike, this time staying close in at the sacrifice of taking a glancing blow in order to strike for the nerve points in Masaomi's right shoulder, fingers stiffened and tingling with disrupting chakra.]

[Neither of Neji's teammates use summons, so he's had less experience in sparring with someone who does -- not no experience, but less than he would like.

Not knowing Linda's capabilities, other than the iron tail thing, he falls back, trying to stay out of reach until he can gauge her a bit better. Electricity... that will be difficult to deal with. A disruption for the nerves, difficult to block...]

[Not time to look close, but with the Byakugan, he can keep an eye on her and on Masaomi at the same time. The kick is easy enough to block, but the seashell... Neji's not stupid enough to assume that it's harmless, no matter how little most seashells would seem to work as weapons. If an opponent has it in hand during a combat, assume it has a combat use.

He launches an attack of his own, a quick flurry of pressure-point strikes, still attentive to what Linda is up to. If she uses electricity to attack, then his best defense is to keep contact with Masaomi, so she can't strike him without passing it along.]

[The crack of thunder, the sudden rain... Neji's brow furrows as he tries to think through the potentials. That wasn't a direct lightning hit as he'd expected, but the footing will get treacherous with the rain and subsequent lightning attacks will be strengthened. Still needs to be cautious.

For the moment, he follows Masaomi deeper into the ravine, resolving to stick with him.]

[They're only sparring, but Neji decides the chakra expenditure is worth the improved footing, and channels chakra to his feet -- water-walking, on a much smaller scale, is good for dealing with mud and slippery conditions as well. And if Linda goes for a shock, should offer him some protection.

So he won't be splashing in the new wet as he darts forward at Masaomi again, leaving the ground undisturbed at his passing. It can be a neat psychological trick against non-ninja, too.]

[Linda is still in play, and Neji contemplates the likelihood of attacking her directly. He's been holding off so far, but she's a player in this battle too, and between her and Masaomi, she's perhaps the most dangerous.

So he lunges for her this time, aiming for a simple strike to bat her out of the air.]

[And the chance succeeds! Neji hisses in sudden pain as the electricity jolts through his arm, numbing it, and he pulls back, trying to overcome the disruption of nerves and chakra circulation. That's... more than annoying. His attacks can be used with either hand, but typically, he goes in with both, and one numbed arm will throw him off severely for any elaborate techniques.

He's not defenseless, but it's a setback. So he'll wait, let Masaomi come to him now, and block the punch with his good arm, staying on the defensive while he tries to get his affected nerves back to functioning properly.]
