[Masaomi is wearing this... (also this bracelet) and he's upside down. Specifically, he is standing on the ceiling of the grocery store and has his journal propped up on one of the shelves to record him being on the ceiling. He's doing this to be swagilicious, and you are free to walk in on him or see the video, but he begins with a laugh and a nod]

Greetings, greeting Luceti! I know, I was thinking I'd roll with the mood of love we've had for a while now and set up some dates, but I didn't find any chocolates in the grocery. I took this as a sign that the time for steamy romance might not be just now, and I've decided to request of you something I don't usually do! [He spreads his arms wide and begins to pace... on the ceiling. He's really straining his chakra control here and anyone who knows the look for the signs will notice that despite trying to look flippant, he is concentrating quite a bit.] Namely, does anyone wish to try one of those fabled spars with me and my partner? I promise, it won't be something you regret! [And with a wink, and releases himself from the ceiling. He flips himself in the air as he falls and lands on his feet. He groans when he does because that impact was harder than he thought it would be, but he switches the journal off afterwards.

...Feel free to see him in there, of course. He'll be waiting for responses there after, sitting in a chair eating an apple with Linda the Pikachu doing the same next to him]

[To which Linda sparks her cheeks and cackles. Those chumps]

True--they certainly do have an unfortunate type disadvantage against electric-types.

[He gives the waterfall one last cursory look before he turns around to properly face Masaomi, taking out a pokeball.] However, I can't necessarily promise that it will be as easy as that when facing my Pokemon and I as your opponents. Are you ready?

Oh, I've got no doubt, my man. Let's see what we've got.

[In fact, he's eager.

...Even if his pokedex will have no data]

[Good, that's what we like to hear!]

Let's go, my vintage Pokemon! [And with quite a flourish, he tosses the pokeball up into the air where it opens and sends out his Pansage, who takes it's stance in front of Cilan. GRASS MONKEYS AWW YEAH...and because you don't have the ability to scan it with your pokedex--] This is Pansage, a grass-type Pokemon. We'll be interested to see what kind of strategy the two of you come up with in this battle--you may make the first move if you'd like.

Grass, huh...

[That... eliminates a lot of the major strategies he might normally go for. That's unfortunate. He's basically reduced solely to moves she doesn't excel at. Well, might as well start how Linda normal would. He snaps his fingers, and she gives a very nasty smirk to make good on one of her favorite moves

Her tail and paw clap together to make a loud sonic boom designed to do light damage and make the opponent flinch. Fake Out.

And once he's pretty sure that'll give him an early start bonus here-] Now let's see some agility, eh?!

[And Linda then disappears into a blur. She's speeding off to another lillypad over there. And then again to a rock near the middle of the spring. Then to where she was. Rising her speed.]

[Pansage (and Cilan) wince at the sudden loud boom from the Fake Out--which certainly does give you the early advantage to use agility. Pansage is looking this way and that now trying to track its movements...]

Wh-what a speedy taste...! [But we'll have to do something rather than just letting you sit there upping your speed stat without difficulty. Ahem--] Pansage, let's be sure to keep our focus on the target! Use Bullet Seed!

[The grass monkey nods before it sucks in a breath, and then begins quite quickly rapid-firing what appears to be seeds from it's mouth, attempting to aim and hit the speedy rodent to stop it in its tracks.]

[Masaomi's not sure he's ever encountered that movie before. If he has, it's not recalling it being as efficient as this was. Linda is leap-running across pads to evade, trying to circle around-

And so is Masaomi running around the edge of the pool. Actually in tandem with Linda.] That's impressive, man! [The bullet seeds are hitting the water, making splashes. He wonders if he can use that...] Linda, let's try- [And he makes a hand motion to circle around-

But while she looks at that she gets hit by the first bullet seed so far. Which pushes her back a bit, but she tries to shrug it off to keep going]

[Interesting--you fight a bit differently than most trainers he's met...

Luckily for you, Pansage can't keep a round of Bullet Seed going forever, stopping once Pikachu has been hit to catch it's breath again. It allows a couple of seconds for Pikachu to get its bearings again and perhaps a better look at your hand signals before--]

Hmm, I don't think the flavor of this battle has reached it's peak yet--use Bullet Seed, once more!

[You got it man--Pansage moves a little closer towards the pool to fire off another round of seeds at the Pikachu.]

Alright, Linda, let's do this! [The bullet seed connects three hits this time. Three hits which hurt, but now that she has direction she's able to just ignore them. She leaps off the last pad and uses Magnet Rise (an attack she can now basically do in her sleep so I'm calling a free action) to float/leap behind the Pansage. She then commits to a Quick Attack strike.]

[Pansage takes the Quick Attack to the back, getting knocked off its feet momentarily in shock from the unexpected attack. As it gets back up on its feet, Cilan speaks up.]

Very impressive! Your Pikachu is certainly an engaging opponent...so let's take things to the next level, shall we?

[And with a slightly dramatic flourish of fixing his bowtie and the snap of his fingers--] It's tasting time~!

[No, you don't get a chance to ask what the hell that means as he continues to speak, this time in a more analytical tone of voice, as if giving a diagnosis of Linda's skills.] Your Pokemon has quite an accelerating taste when it comes to using it's attacks, but it's agility in dodging them may need a little more time to ripen--let's see just how nimble it is with an attack from below! Pansage, use Dig!

[Pansage slams into the earth and digs a hole down underground, disappearing from view. Where will it burst back up from the ground to attack? ...Well, hopefully Pikachu will think to move quickly enough for when it bursts out from right under it's feet is to smash into it.]

[Oh, she can. Masaomi's lips actually quirk up - in part because of the "tasting time" (what even is that) and in part because Linda and him have trained obsessively about dig and its operations (one of Silver's early tests for Masaomi to gain greater spacial awareness was figuring out where a dugtrip was going to surface to attack them both).

Masaomi actually closes his eyes (Linda follows suit) to hear and sense the movements in the simulated earth. It's comparatively soft ground, being near a spring but-

...Right under her? Come on. He doesn't even need to order Linda to use her Magnet Right to float up in the air, but he does order her retaliation- his eyes still closed-]

Flash!

[And then her cheeks light up. Cue a blinding flash of light!]

[Irk, was not expecting that--at least Cilan has enough foresight on knowing what Flash does to have an automatic reaction of putting his arm up in front of his face to shield his eyes. Pansage, on the other hand, is not quite as lucky to be able to do the same, having just leaped out of the ground a moment ago. So with the flash of light, it's staggering back away for a moment, attempting to rub at its eyes to get it's sight focused again.]

Wh-what a stunning taste... [He lowers his arm back down when it feels like it's safe to see again.] Pansage, are you alright?

[Pansage shakes it's head momentarily as if attempting to clear the spots dancing in it's vision from the light before it gives a slight fist-pump in Cilan's direction--it's okay, we can try to keep going.] Alright, try to focus and use Bullet Seed!

[It opens it's mouth to fire off a round of seeds in Pikachu's direction, albeit it's aim being not quite as accurate as it had been the first few times it used this attack, due the accuracy-lowering use of Flash.]

Alright, retreating! [Linda doesn't like to retreat. And she's not a distance fighter! ...But she trusts Masaomi, well enough. So Masaomi breaks back Cilan and both him and his mouse are going to run (dodging all the seeds this time) as they go to hop up some piles of boulders on the far side of the spring]

[Cilan watches curiously as they both run and dodge the bullet seeds, hopping up on the boulders together. He's actually pretty impressed by their skills--he hasn't quite relented on his opinion regarding being able to dodge certain attacks, but some credit must be given where it's due.]

Hm...regarding the strength of your teamwork, it looks like my hypothesis was correct; both you and your Pikachu have an in-sync flavor to your style of fighting. I don't think I've battled as many Trainers that were as involved in battles as you are until now. [In that Masaomi actively participates a bit himself, whether it's giving hand signals or running and retreating with his Pikachu than just giving vocal commands, he means.] It's quite an inspiring taste, seeing Pokemon and their Trainers working closely together like that!

It's how I was trained! [He has no idea if that monkey can keep up a range. But... right now, from his vantage point, they can easily dodge the bullet seed and he'll need to break the distance]

[Cilan smiles briefly at that before glancing at his Pansage--judging from where it's looking, it seems to be focusing it's sight a little better than it was when it had attempted to use Bullet Seed. So he points and gives his next command.]

Pansage, use Solarbeam!

[Pansage holds it's arms to the side where what looks like a bright light, almost as bright as Linda's Flash attack from earlier, is beginning to glow in-between it's paws...and then it brings that light up and fires a large beam of intense burning light up at the boulders where Masaomi and Linda are standing.

...It would be in your best interest to try to dodge that if you can.]

...I should have seen that coming.

[Still, they take positions - Masaomi in front with his arms in front of him, and Linda leading over to one of the other boulders. So much for that plan of getting the high ground. Masaomi knows if he tries to dodge something moving that fast he'll end up more hurt than this in a more vital area (his legs, maybe) so-

The human is holding out his crossed arms in front of him to take a brunt of the solarbeam.]

[Well, considering that Solarbeam is one of the most powerful Grass-type moves out there and involves getting hit with energy that was from absorbing the power of the sun...yeah, it's likely gonna be painful... 8|

Painful enough that it is of concern to us--we honestly hadn't intended for that attack to hit Masaomi rather than his Pikachu, so there's an "eep" of worry from his Pansage and it immediately lowers its arms back down once the beam of light has left its paws, both it and it's trainer making their way over towards the boulder where Masaomi was standing to call up to him. (Please tell us you did the sensible thing and dodged out of the way or something before it hit rather than taking the full brunt of it...)]

Masaomi? Are you alright?

[He's... smirking, when the smoke clears. His hair is singed, he was shoved back onto his ass, and his bracers are scorched a bit. He might have had his arms get all bruised like and he's winded. But... he's smirking, still.

...He also is probably bleeding. At least out of his nose. but he's still smirking.

Mostly because, despite they are distracted, Linda is looping around them to flank. And he knows she is taking advantage of it, and he's hoping, moving as she is with agility, they aren't noticing]

Never better!

[Looks like Masaomi's not too badly injured... Both Cilan and Pansage breathe a sigh of relief.]

Oh, thank goodness! Taking an attack like that head-on would normally be considered quite a risky taste...

[Sufficiently distracted or not, they are at least glad that Masaomi's okay...but wait, where's Linda? Probably shouldn't have taken our eyes off her, and now the two of them are glancing around to try to see where she might have gone. Pansage's hearing is better than Cilan's, so it's the first to turn and notice the Pikachu, though probably not quick enough...]

[Relevant.

Masaomi is still smirking and- good girl. Her tail, now coated in metal, is swinging down in a very precise strike- an Iron Tail which would have been aimed right for the back of his head, but with him turning, she grins like. Well, like this. As it is, with the turn it'll be slamming him right between the eyes.

Masaomi's standing now too. Wiping his bleeding nose and smirking still. ...Wow he's sore]

[--!!] Quick, dodge it!

[Alas, a little too late for that. Steel-type moves might not be considered particularly "super effective" when used against a Grass-type Pokemon like fire attacks might be, but it certainly still hurts quite a bit to take an Iron Tail to the face like that. Pansage stumbles back away from Linda, practically seeing stars for a moment there. Ow...sorry Cilan, we might have to sit down or something for a minute or two... X(]

[Not sure if there's counted as a win or not Masaomi and Linda both feel-] Let's press the attack! [Linda complies, and the stumbling, awkward pansage is going to get bit unless Cilan or him make it clear there's an actual surrender going on here

Bite is a great attack.]

[It certainly is--we would know since, once Linda manages to chomp down somewhere on Pansage, it seems to snap it out of it's daze thanks to the new pain it's feeling. It shakes her free and opens it's mouth wide, as if preparing to potentially Bite down on the Pikachu as well on reflex...]

Pansage, perhaps here is a good point to stop at. [Holding up a hand now, indicating for it to stop. Pansage makes to give Cilan an "aww come on" look...but then it seems he's right since it ends up wobbling and sitting down on the ground, appearing too worn out to stand and clearly in need of a break. Even if it did get in another attack, it likely could have fainted pretty soon anyway.] Paa...
